Arias Trial

Aired May 27, 2013 - 19:00:00   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

NANCY GRACE, HOST: Tonight, Jodi Arias caught on tape, and not just any tape, Arias under police investigation. We have the video, Arias trying to wiggle her way out of an elaborate web of lies to police, shifting from one bizarre story to the next.

But it doesn`t stop there. Oh, no! Some things the jury will never see. Arias makes like an Olympic gymnast and does a handstand during the police interrogation. Yes, you heard me. She does, she physically does, a handstand there in the interrogation room.

Arias also caught talking to herself, saying out loud she should have done her makeup, referring to herself in the third person, even singing, of all things, about her memory. Well, maybe Arias should just worry about telling the truth.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JODI ARIAS, CHARGED WITH MURDER: (INAUDIBLE) your makeup, Jodi (INAUDIBLE) (SINGING) (INAUDIBLE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Here`s some bizarre behavior any therapist would struggle to explain. You`re watching Jodi Arias do a headstand in the interrogation room shortly before she is arrested for murder back in 2008. She is on her head for almost 30 seconds while she waits for the detective. She also snoops through the trash and sings a tune by pop singer Dido (ph).

ARIAS: (SINGING) INAUDIBLE) until you`re resting here with me...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It went to a grand jury, and the grand jury indicted you.

ARIAS: So it`s all public now?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It`s public record.

ARIAS: So does everyone know?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: If somebody goes and checks public record, they can check and they would come up with an indictment against you for murder.

ARIAS: But (INAUDIBLE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We don`t report anything to the news.

ARIAS: Has his family called today?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No, they don`t even know that I`m talking to you.

ARIAS: But they`ve been calling every day.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Every day.

ARIAS: (INAUDIBLE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I talk to them every day. How would you feel if your little brother or little sister was killed?

ARIAS: I`ve been wanting to call every day, too. I didn`t want to look obsessive, so I just tried to limit it to once a week.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Were you at Travis`s house on Wednesday?

ARIAS: Absolutely not. I was nowhere near Mesa. I was not near Phoenix. I wasn`t even close to him.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What if I could show you proof you were there? Would that change your mind?

ARIAS: I wasn`t there.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You need to be honest with me, Jodi.

ARIAS: I was not at Travis`s house. I was not.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I can prove you were there. I can prove it. But what I don`t have is, I don`t have is answers on why it happened, or you know, maybe something just got out of hand, maybe -- maybe things got out of hand.

ARIAS: Did you find the gun? Maybe that would...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Jodi, we`re just playing games here. That gun was in your possession. When did you report it stolen?

ARIAS: I didn`t even know that there were guns until my grandparents reported it stolen the their house was burglarized.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: When was that?

ARIAS: I don`t remember. Just a few months ago, maybe.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What did you do with the gun?

ARIAS: I don`t have a gun.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A records check shows me that (INAUDIBLE) reported a gun stolen, a .25 auto. This happens to be the same caliber as the weapon used to kill him.

ARIAS: A .25 auto was used (INAUDIBLE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, along with multiple stab wounds.

A lot of details on this case that haven`t been released to the public, and not even to Travis`s family. And those details are known only by us and the person who did it, OK? And that`s one of the reasons I`m here, because I believe that you know some of these details and that you can help us.

ARIAS: I would love to help you in any way that I can.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK.

I have a problem with this trip. I`ve gone over this trip over and over in my mind and on paper. And even if -- there`s still 20-some-odd hours, even if you pulled over to sleep a couple of times.

ARIAS: Did I tell you that I got stranded?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes.

ARIAS: OK.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You mentioned that. If you slept for 10 hours...

ARIAS: I only slept for, like...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: ... here and here, it would still be 18-somewhat hours for something else, OK? This is what people are focusing on, is this trip that you took, because they`re saying she left. (INAUDIBLE) Thursday, Wednesday? This is when Travis was killed.

(INAUDIBLE) pictures to show you. (INAUDIBLE) that one. Do you remember him?

ARIAS: Yes. Is he naked? In the shower?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes.

ARIAS: Travis would never go for that!

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Soon after you and him had sex on his bed.

ARIAS: It couldn`t have been too soon after.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: An hour or so.

ARIAS: The last time...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Two hours.

ARIAS: (INAUDIBLE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It`s you, and I wanted to cover you up because that`s you, all of you.

ARIAS: Oh. That looks like me.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: That is you. Take a look at the rest of it, if you want. There`s a few of those, a few more. I`ll try not to show them to you because I don`t want to put you out there like that.

There`s no doubt in my mind that you were there. There`s no doubt in my mind that you did this. None. So you can go until you`re blue in the face and tell me you weren`t there and you had nothing to do with it. I won`t believe you. I will not believe it because Travis is telling me that you did this to him. That`s my job. My job is to speak for him, and this is what he`s telling me. And I want to know why. It`s killing me inside.

(CROSSTALK)

ARIAS: ... there`s no reason for it. There`s no reason why! There`s no reason I would ever want to hurt him!

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: There`s no way anybody else...

ARIAS: He never raped me.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Did you have anything to do with the death of Travis?

ARIAS: Not -- I don`t think I had anything directly to do with it, but I feel responsible somewhat for it.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And what can you tell me about his death?

ARIAS: You know a lot more about it than I do. When I say I feel responsible it`s because I wasn`t -- I wasn`t planning to go there at all. And he really wanted me to go. The reason I feel is because of Ryan -- if it weren`t for Ryan, I would have told him and I would just scrapped all our plans and spent all of my days there.

But I didn`t, and I stood strong. And he got mad, and he got sad and he got and he guilted me. He didn`t get really mad, he just kind of guilted me. And finally, I was, like, Whatever. Fine. And we hung up. I feel that if I would have gone there that I could have done something because...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: But you were there, Jodi.

ARIAS: I have made (INAUDIBLE) I can`t admit to doing something that I haven`t done! I just -- part of me wants to cop out and say it.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No, well if you`re going to cop out, it`s because you`re telling the truth.

ARIAS: Well, that`s not really copping out.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, I don`t want you to sit here and tell me a lie to appease me. That is the worst thing you can do for me. But back there in that mind of yours is somebody screaming to get out and tell me what happened, but you just keep on...

ARIAS: He has done nothing but -- I mean, except for some mean words that he said.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I know.

ARIAS: People have said worse to me, or just as bad. Except for that, he has never -- he has helped me and given me money. He was selling me his car on the...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Then why?

ARIAS: ... easiest (INAUDIBLE) terms ever.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Then why, Jodi, why?

ARIAS: There`s no reason why.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It just happens?

ARIAS: A lot of people were dropping my name, and I said I`m not worried about it because I didn`t do it, I said, but it`s very much -- it`s hurting my reputation and it`s casting me in a bad light.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I wouldn`t be worrying about your reputation right now. I`d be worrying about the rest of your life. That means nothing, absolutely nothing.

ARIAS: Well, my reputation will affect the rest of my life, so I am worried.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You`re the kid that got caught on videotape stealing the candy, and you continue to say, It wasn`t me. I have the proof. I have the pictures. It wasn`t me. I don`t think you would admit to it if somebody -- if your own mother saw you do this and she told me, yes, I saw her do this. You would say, No, it wasn`t me. Why won`t you admit to it?

ARIAS: I didn`t kill Travis. I just didn`t -- I did not take his life.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You need to think about what you`re saying. This continuing to lie is not going to help you. If...

ARIAS: Admitting to something I didn`t do wouldn`t help me, either. OK, let`s say for a second that I did and I say I did it. I mean...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The motive is there, jealousy issue...

ARIAS: But I wasn`t -- I wouldn`t even say it was jealous. I mean, there may have been some jealousy there, but I think if anybody...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Then what caused this?

ARIAS: I think if -- you know, if anyone, maybe Travis was jealous. But...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: That`s not what everybody else says. Oh, they know he was jealous, but they think that you were absolutely obsessed. "Obsessed" is the word that they use. That`s the word I hear from everybody. "Fatal Attraction" -- I don`t know how many times I have heard that.

They`re going through your house right now. So are they going to find anything there that would lead you back to this?

ARIAS: I don`t think they would. I mean, there`s nothing that could link me there. I mean, that`s pretty compelling, I have to admit, if you found my palm print there.

How many times was Travis stabbed?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: More than I want to remember. And I`m not going to sit here and show you pictures of him after the fact. I don`t do that. That`s not how I work. But eventually, those photos will come out.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: When the detective returns and tells her she is about to be arrested, Arias asks if she can have her purse to be a little primping before this now infamous smiling mug shot was snapped.

ARIAS: This is a really trivial question, and it`s going to reveal how shallow I am! But before they book me, can I clean myself up a little bit?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You`re going to be taken the way you are. I can`t give you anything else.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: When we come back, Jodi Arias forced to face the evidence against her, and it`s all caught on tape.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

GRACE: Despite evidence to the contrary, Jodi Arias insists she wasn`t even at Travis Alexander`s home the time he was killed. But Detective Flores doesn`t believe Arias, confronting her about evidence, including Arias`s own blood, her own hair, and possibly most important, digital photos.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And I have pictures of you in Travis`s bedroom with Travis, pictures of him. And it`s obvious you guys are having sex, taking photos of each other. And they`re dated and timestamped on the day he died.

ARIAS: Are you sure it`s me? I mean, because I was not there.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Jodi, it`s you. And you know it`s you. I know all the details of this case. The only thing I don`t know is why.

I know you took pictures of him in the shower just before he died.

ARIAS: I don`t think he would allow that.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And the camera actually took a couple of photos by accident during the time he was being killed.

ARIAS: Really?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, Jodi, really. You were there. Quit playing this game. It`s time for you to just come out and tell me.

ARIAS: I did not -- I am -- I did not hurt Travis. I did not hurt Travis. I wouldn`t do that to him.

Can I see the pictures?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Sure. We have your blood at the scene. Your hair was at the scene. You left your palm print at the scene in blood. What`s going on there?

ARIAS: Well, I can explain the blood and the hair. I don`t know about my left palm print.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: How can you explain the blood and the hair?

ARIAS: Well, because I used to bathe Napoleon all the time and...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You haven`t been there since April, right?

ARIAS: Uh-huh. Well...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He`s had the house several times since then. And this hair was not just a hair, you know, from the shower or something. This hair stuck with blood, and obviously had blood on it at the time it got stuck, where it ended up.

I know you tried to wash him off, tried to get some of the blood off, tried to clean him up a little bit. But you`re even denying the pictures of you being there. There`s pictures of you laying on the bed in pigtails.

ARIAS: Pigtails?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes. Now, we`ve got pictures of you that I`ve blown up. And you`ve got the little mole right there. It`s the same one. It`s you. It`s obvious. I can show you some of these pictures. Do you want to see the pictures? Will that change your mind?

ARIAS: I mean, I am curious.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK. Let me take a break and we`ll go find them and bring them in and show you.

ARIAS: I wasn`t there.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: Next, the evidence seemingly is mounting. But can Jodi Arias really convince people she wasn`t ever at Alexander`s home?

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

GRACE: Her story may not make sense, but Jodi Arias still refuses to admit she was even at Travis`s house when he was killed. Arias confronted by police about DNA evidence in the home. Her response? She lived there for months, her DNA should be there. But does that include bloody palm prints?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Why did you choose to go to see Travis that day? And why did you do what you did?

ARIAS: I would never hurt Travis.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You did. You hurt him. That`s why we`re here. That`s why I flew up here, because I needed to talk to you about this. I can just arrest you and throw you in jail, but I want to know why. Why did you do this to him?

ARIAS: I wouldn`t hurt Travis. He`s done so much for me.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: There`s so much evidence in that house, so much, and it all points to you.

ARIAS: I -- I lived there. I was there for months and months and months.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No way. There is no other hair.

ARIAS: Can you take -- can you take a hair sample and...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We have your DNA.

ARIAS: No, no, no, but I mean, like, you know how they can do drug tests and find out when things were done. Can you...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No, we can`t do that.

ARIAS: Can`t you measure the time?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We have DNA matching that hair...

ARIAS: OK, I know, but my...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And that hair had a follicle on it, and that means that that hair wasn`t there very long. The follicles usually dissipate and go away after a certain time, or fall off the hair itself.

ARIAS: Well, when I would brush my hair there...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Jodi...

ARIAS: I mean...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: This one -- you absolutely cannot -- cannot explain that away. You either had blood on your hand and you touched the wall, or there was blood on the wall when you touched (INAUDIBLE)

ARIAS: Could my palm print have already been there, and that touched it?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Jodi -- Jodi, this is over. This is absolutely over. You need to tell me the truth.

ARIAS: Well, then, the truth is I did not hurt Travis, OK, so...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Jodi, you can continue to do this, OK?

If you want, I can show you some pictures of him. Do you want to see pictures of him?

ARIAS: Part of me does, and part of me doesn`t.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Why, because you don`t want to remember?

ARIAS: No!

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Jodi.

ARIAS: There`s a morbid curiosity.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Jodi...

ARIAS: I wanted to know how he died!

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: Coming up, Jodi Arias changes her tune, but will police believe her?

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

GRACE: Tonight, Jodi Arias caught on tape, and not just any tape, police interrogation tape. We have the video. Some of it the jury will never see, Arias trying to wiggle her way out of an elaborate set of lies, shifting from one bizarre story to the next.

You`ve already seen Arias making like an Olympic gymnast doing a handstand in the police interrogation room. Literally a handstand. But now after being arrested and charged with murder, Arias suddenly changes her story. She says now she was there. But she didn`t kill Travis. Oh, no, it was two masked ninjas.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ARIAS: I just -- I just feel like I`ve seen "The Sopranos," and they`re not mafia or anything, but you know, I just -- I honestly -- there is a part of me inside that thinks they`re never going to come after me. OK, if you don`t believe me that`s OK.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I`m trying to. I`m trying really hard.

ARIAS: I`m just saying that, you know, it sounds to me like I`m already in the system. Pretty far in. I`m not getting out any time soon. And as long as the rap falls on me, I think that --

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: That is not good, don`t do this.

ARIAS: No, I`m just saying, I think that as long as there`s less of a chance that my little brother is going to be hurt or my mom or my dad or my sister that lived there.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: If you want me to believe that somebody else was there, you have to show me. You have to explain to me what happened. Otherwise, it was just you. And if that is the case, that`s OK. That`s OK as well.

ARIAS: It`s better if everyone thinks that.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: If everyone thinks that it was just you? No, it`s not.

ARIAS: It is, really, you`ve no idea.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I do have an idea.

ARIAS: No, you have no idea. I didn`t recognize any of them.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Well, you have to give me a moment. Why would they do this? Were they going after Travis? For what reason? You tell me this, but you give me no reason.

ARIAS: They didn`t discuss much. They just argued.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: About what?

ARIAS: About whether or not to kill me.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: For what reason?

ARIAS: Because I`m a witness.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A witness of what?

ARIAS: Him. Travis.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Of Travis`s murder?

ARIAS: Yes, but I didn`t really witness it, I didn`t see much. I just --

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You need to make this believable because it is not believable to me right now. You need to give me something.

ARIAS: OK. I just -- listen.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I am listening, Jodi. I am listening. And it doesn`t make any sense to me. You know who they are, if you`re telling me the truth.

ARIAS: I don`t know them.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, I don`t believe you either. And I can`t. You can`t expect me to. Why would they do this to him? What were they arguing about? What did they say? Their details?

ARIAS: They didn`t say a lot. They were white Americans from what I could tell. They had -- what do you call those things? They`re like beanies that they cover your whole face. They have got holes for your nose or your mouth.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A ski mask?

ARIAS: And your eyes. And they were -- one was black, I think they were both black, or maybe dark blue or something.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What happened when the last picture was taken?

ARIAS: He was kneeling down in the shower, I don`t remember. He was like -- if this is his shower and the sink is over here, I was like right here taking pictures. And I don`t really know what happened after that. Exactly. Except I think he was shot.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Where were you?

ARIAS: If this is the shower, he was sitting here, I was like -- well, if this is his shower, he is sitting here, I was like right here on my knees and his bathtub was right here. And I was taking them here, and I was just going through the pictures, and I heard this loud ring, and I don`t really remember except Travis was screaming.

I think I got knocked out. But I don`t think I was out long. He was screaming and I was by the bathtub. He was holding his head. And there were two people there. And --

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What did you see?

ARIAS: I remember -- putting my hand on his back. He was on all four of his knees. He was like on his knees like this, doing something like this, or something like -- I don`t know. And I was -- OK, what is going on, what is going on? And he`s like, go get help. Go get help. And I said OK. And I turned around, and there were two people there. One is a guy, one is a girl.

I couldn`t tell that at first but I could just tell one was a girl and I assume the other was a guy because of their build and their voices. I don`t remember what they were wearing like maybe jeans.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Did they say why they were there?

ARIAS: No. But it was obvious they were there for him. They didn`t say why.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: So it seemed like they knew him obviously?

ARIAS: Yes, but he didn`t seem to know them. I mean, he was a little out of it. Plus they had masks on anyway. But he didn`t express any kind of recognition. She was over him and I just rushed her and I pushed her. And there`s --

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: There`s what?

ARIAS: Travis was bleeding everywhere.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What was she doing to him? Because he had been shot at this time, right?

ARIAS: Yes, I think he was still alive. He was conscious even.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Still talking?

ARIAS: He wasn`t talking or saying much that I could tell he was breathing. He seems like he was breathing calmly, I think. It wasn`t like he was just there. I can`t really remember. It`s such a blur.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK. And so you did what now? You pushed her?

ARIAS: Mm-hmm. She is bigger, a little bit bigger than me, not really in size but height.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Then what happened?

ARIAS: That didn`t really deter her.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Did she have any weapons on her at all?

ARIAS: Oh, yes.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What did she have?

ARIAS: She -- I thought she as the one with the gun.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: With the gun.

ARIAS: But maybe she had the gun, but she had a gun. So maybe there were two guns, one gun out, you know.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: But she`s the one who shot him, right? She was the one here and he was back here at the time when you saw him.

ARIAS: He wasn`t really moving now. He was just standing -- staying kind of still on the floor.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Then what happened?

ARIAS: Well, as soon as he said go get help, I turned around and they were there. And --

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Where were they?

ARIAS: They were in the bathroom.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Where at -- in the hallway or in the bathroom --

(CROSSTALK)

ARIAS: The girl was in the hallway. And the guy was more toward the bedroom, but like still in the bathroom, like on the carpet area right there.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK. And he started coming in toward the bathroom, too, and I --

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What did you do? What happened, Jodi? What did you see?

ARIAS: I chickened out like a little bitch.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: Next, Jodi Arias claiming she`s the victim?

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

GRACE: Police keeping the heat on Arias, but the newly charged murder suspect refuses to admit she killed Travis. Listen as Arias goes on and on about how she was the one who was threatened.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You took off?

ARIAS: I ran, and he stopped me. But I --

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Who stopped you?

ARIAS: Travis. He was -- he was still, like, conscious and still alive.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You just left him there?

ARIAS: No, I ran into the closet because there was, like, two doors, and they were sort of in the hallway already, and he stopped me. He didn`t touch me, he was just held the gun to my head. And he was like, you don`t go anywhere. And he told the other girl, I didn`t see, but he was like -- I don`t think he was saying a lot, but --

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What did they say?

ARIAS: One was in all black, one was in jeans.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Did they say anything?

ARIAS: Yes, the girl wanted to kill me, too.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What did she say? What words did you hear? What phrases?

ARIAS: Who is that? Who is that? And I thought he was by himself or alone or anything. And -- he was like shut up, just finish it. And Travis was screaming the whole time, he wasn`t screaming like a girl, he was just like he was in pain, like he was shocked. And -- you know. I got Travis and he wasn`t like standing up really. He wasn`t really doing much. And he was -- I was trying to get him and she came back. I got him kind of far like right here. She came back and -- he was just starting just get weaker and weaker.

And this guy came back in. And she said -- she said they needed to do me, too, because I was there, and he`s like, no, that is not why we`re here. And -- he had my purse, which I had on the dresser here --

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And what did they do after this? After you guys reached this? Try to stick with the incident itself and what was going on.

ARIAS: She came after me and he stopped her.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK.

ARIAS: And she didn`t get me.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: How was she going to get you? Does she have a weapon?

ARIAS: She had a knife.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK. You said she had a gun before.

ARIAS: I don`t know if she had a gun. I think -- because I am guessing, I know that he has a gun. I don`t know if she has a gun or not. He got my registration out from my wallet. And he said --

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What did he say?

ARIAS: He said you must be that bitch from California. She had a knife and I don`t know, he was bleeding everywhere. It was like -- she rushed me afterward, or she came back, I rushed her, she came back at me.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Why didn`t you --

(CROSSTALK)

ARIAS: Tried to stab her right about here, maybe, I don`t know. Half of town now. And there was a little bit of a struggle with her and I was so scared. I`m not a person who fights. I am not a person who knows really about self-defense. I took some classes once, but it was like eight years ago.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: When we come back, you won`t believe what Jodi Arias actually says to police during her police interrogation.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

GRACE: Jodi Arias still denying she kills Travis Alexander. She says it wasn`t her. But she tells police if she were to have killed Alexander, she`d, quote, "wear gloves." Watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: There`s no way anyone else could have left your print in blood on that wall. No way. Get that through your head.

ARIAS: If I was trying to ever try to kill somebody, I would use gloves. Plenty of them.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Nobody said you -- you know, planned this out perfectly. Maybe you were going there to just talk to him, have a good time with him. Something got out of hand. I don`t know what to tell you. If you were in my shoes, and I had this evidence against, against you, what would you say?

ARIAS: If I had that evidence against you?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes.

ARIAS: It`d be pretty obvious, but I guess being in my position, it just seems so impossible. I`d want to sigh it. I`d want to know. I mean, I`m not -- like I`m not a murder, but I guess if I were to do that I`d wear gloves or, you know, something. I just -- how could my -- I don`t know.

If I had planned to hurt him in any way, you know, I`m not the brightest person, but I don`t think I could stab him. I think I would have to shoot him continuously until he was dead, if that were my intention, and, again, I bring up the gloves again, but I would have to wear gloves, Man, I`m not too worried about prints. I`d never stab him. I said if. If I had it in me anywhere to kill him the least I could have done was making was to make it humane as possible, quick, you know, I don`t think killing is humane so to speak.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I know what you mean.

ARIAS: I don`t mean it that way, he was still alive.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I know. I know what you mean like.

ARIAS: He was still alive.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: Coming up, Jodi Arias brings up the 10 commandments?

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

GRACE: We remember American hero, Marine Corporal Jeffrey Standfest, 23, St. Clair, Michigan. Purple Heart, National Defense medal, Plank Owner Award. Parents, timothy and Karen, sister Jaclyn.

Jeffrey Standfest, American hero.

You may not expect Jodi Arias to be the one who actually brings up the "10 Commandments" during her police interrogation, but she does. Claiming if she did kill Travis Alexander, her lover, she would be ready to face the consequences.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You have something to tell me, but you`re just so resistant. I know you`re afraid. But you`re already going through it right now. So there`s no backing up. There`s no backing up to yesterday. There`s no backing up to that day. It already happened. And unfortunately you`re going to have to face the consequences.

ARIAS: I`m -- you know, if I did that, I would be fully ready to face the consequences. I`m not really for things like, you know, I`m all for the "10 Commandments", thou shalt not kill. OK? But -- there`s no evidence to show that anybody else did it.
