Aired May 25, 2010 - 23:00:00   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

A.J. HAMMER, CO-HOST: Big news breaking today on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT - Jesse`s sex and lies revelations. Today, for the first time, Jesse James tells all about how he confessed to Sandra Bullock that he was cheating on her.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JESSE JAMES, HUSBAND OF SANDRA BULLOCK: I just told her basically everything. You know, that I had affairs outside of our marriage.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: But wait, there`s more. Jesse`s rehab confession. And what about that notorious Nazi photo?

Royal fear of Fergie. Why the royal family may be in a panic today that a desperate Fergie might reveal their family secrets because of her caught-on-tape fraud.

Lindsay Lohan for dummies. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT blows the lid off Lindsay`s outrageous court capers.

And today`s brand-new burning questions, will Lindsay go on "Celebrity Rehab?" and is she being treated unfairly?

ANNOUNCER: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show starts right now.

(MUSIC)

HAMMER: Hello, I`m A.J. Hammer coming to you from New York City.

BROOKE ANDERSON, CO-HOST: Hi there, everyone, I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood. Big news breaking today, what Jesse told Sandra.

HAMMER: It`s the burning question that everyone has been wondering about - how did Jesse James break the news to Sandra Bullock that he was cheating on her? And how did she react? Well, today we found out from Jesse himself.

In his explosive, very first tell-all, Jesse reveals to ABC News what happened when he told Sandra that he was sneaking around with other women behind her back.

Jesse also makes remarkable claims about the pictures revealed in "Us Weekly" of him wearing Nazi memorabilia. And in another revelation today, we hear Jesse talking for the first time about going to rehab, but was it sex rehab?

Our all-star cast today includes Cooper Lawrence, who joins me in New York. She`s a syndicated radio host and author of the fine book, "The Cult of Celebrity." Also with us in New York, Megan Alexander, who is a correspondent for "Inside Edition."

I`ve got to say this interview is answering and addressing a lot of unanswered questions, but it`s also creating some new mysteries. We`ve never heard what really happened when Jesse told Sandra about his affairs until now.

In his brand-new interview with "Nightline," Jesse James explains how he broke it to Sandra that he cheated. Check this out.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JAMES: I just told her basically everything, you know, that I had affairs outside of our marriage.

VICKY MABREY, ABC CORRESPONDENT: Did she have any idea this was going on or did this hit her like a ton of bricks?

JAMES: I think she`s had her suspicions, you know, in the past. But you know, I lied and lied my way out of it. You know, I lied to everyone about everything, even to myself.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes, when I hear Jesse, in his own words, confessing how he deceived Sandra, it makes me angrier about what he did. Megan, what about you?

MEGAN ALEXANDER, CORRESPONDENT, "INSIDE EDITION": You cheated. You cheated. And then to bring up the fact that he told Sandra, and then they`re curious whether or not she suspected.

Whether she suspected or not, A.J., it didn`t change his actions to continue cheating if he ever thought that along the way. And I also think it`s important that, you know, is this too little too late? I just thought through this whole interview - cry me a river.

HAMMER: Yes. It was kind of like, well, I have to do it, but really, in the end, I don`t know what good it`s doing. And then, Jesse says that he thinks Sandra knew he was cheating.

Brooke Anderson, I seem to remember Sandra saying exactly the opposite of that.

ANDERSON: Yes, A.J., I thought the same exact thing. So I pulled the issue of "People" magazine where Sandra said this about Jesse`s cheating, "I had no idea about anything until that day when I got the call that a tabloid was printing the story."

So Cooper, clearly Jesse`s tell-all only reinforces how much Sandra was blindsided.

COOPER LAWRENCE, SYNDICATED RADIO HOST AND AUTHOR: Yes. Of course, she was blind sided. You know, she`s not stupid enough to get - to make a speech like thinking that possibly it`s going to come out that he`s having multiple affairs.

I mean, besides the fact that she, as a woman, wouldn`t do that, she, as an actress who has an image would never do that. I don`t believe for a second she was suspicious. I don`t believe for a second she knew anything.

And frankly, you know, he`s a liar. The words of a liar are lies. So I would take that whole interview with a grain of salt.

HAMMER: Well, Jesse did make another big revelation in this brand-new interview with "Nightline" today, finally addressing that photo of him dressed up in Nazi memorabilia. We all saw this posted on "UsMagazine.com."

Jesse revealing he wanted to do this ABC News interview not simply because he wanted to publicly apologize for his cheating, but more because he was upset that people thought that he was a racist. Imagine that. Watch this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JAMES: Dealing with losing my marriage and my son and embarrassing everyone, and decimating my life. But to be called a racist on top of that is - it like - it makes me really sad seeing the photo and the way I look.

I don`t even remember taking the photo. But it was just - I can tell by the look on my face, it was a joke. It was funny then probably for a minute. But then looking at it in the context of now in my life, it`s not funny.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes, not funny at all. Megan, he really seems concerned in this new interview about convincing people he`s not a Nazi racist. In your mind, mission accomplished here?

ALEXANDER: Oh, not at all. And A.J., I think it`s disappointing he doesn`t even remember posing for that photo. That`s not disappointing - that`s shocking.

It`s appalling. Nothing to do with Hitler, by any means, my goodness, is a joke. It`s horrific. And I think he needed to convince us more of how disgusting that was. The fact that he didn`t ever remember I thought was pretty terrible.

HAMMER: Cooper, it does seem he was almost more concerned with the idea, "Oh, my goodness. People are thinking I`m potentially a Nazi or even think along those lines because I was wearing a Nazi uniform. What does that say to you?

LAWRENCE: You know, I like a good joke now and again, but I don`t think I would ever, in a million years, put on anything Nazi-oriented and make a joke out of that. He`s a racist. He`s a cheater. He`s a liar.

And for him to try to convince us otherwise - you know, he got caught. It`s having an effect and his show was canceled. It`s having an effect on his business. So he has to come forward and say this stuff. The guy needs to make money again. But I think we should know better and we shouldn`t buy it.

HAMMER: Yes. It`s strange when you hear somebody say, "Oh, I must have thought it was funny for a minute." No, he probably thought it was funny the entire time he had it on.

LAWRENCE: Because he`s a racist. That`s a racist joke, apparently.

HAMMER: Well, Jesse did go on to answer another big question today. Did he or did he not go to rehab for sex addiction? Well, today, we kind of got an answer from his interview with ABC News. What he told Sandra also about what he was doing is involved in this answer and how he was concerned about his daughter, Sunny. Take a look at this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JAMES: I just told her I was going to get some help and I told - I wanted to make sure that she would take care of Sunny.

MABREY: And what did she say to you?

JAMES: No problem. OK. And she told me she was proud of me.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: OK. Well, he still doesn`t say what he was getting help for. But what really struck me here is that he says Sandra actually said that she was proud of him.

Brooke, I`m thinking this interview does a whole lot more to reinforce how well Sandra handled all of this and has come out in all of this. It`s not doing a whole lot for Jesse in my mind.

ANDERSON: No, no, no. Jesse is not repairing his image at all with this interview. Sandra, on the other hand, handled this whole situation with class, with grace - two attributes which Jesse does not possess. And I`ve got to hand it to Sandra because she`s probably exploded behind closed doors. But in public she`s really holding it together and that is very impressive. It`s admirable.

HAMMER: Well, there is another fascinating revelation from Vicky Mabrey, the ABC correspondent who interviewed Jesse. She revealed today that at one point Jesse actually walked out of the interview in tears. Take a look at this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MABREY: That has to do with why he cheated on his wife and it`s memories he has from childhood. I`ll say that much. Memories that he has from childhood and they`re made even more painful, he said, by looking at his children and the ages his children are now.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Well, talking about cheating on Sandra and memories he had of his childhood, he broke down in tears. Let me go to our resident psychology expert. When you hear that, Cooper Lawrence, what does that say to you?

LAWRENCE: Well, anybody else would say that maybe there was something in their childhood that let them to this sort of pain and they mask it by blah, blah, blah, blah. Not him. This isn`t just an affair. This is several affairs.

This is inherent in who this guy is. It`s who he`s always been. So if he had a bad childhood, he knew it at 15. He knew it at 25. He knows it at 35. Why didn`t you do anything about then?

You repair those things about yourself before you get married to somebody like Sandra Bullock. He got caught. He`s using every excuse in the world. You know, my dog ate my homework. I had a bad childhood.

HAMMER: It`s all about the embarrassment, isn`t it?

LAWRENCE: Exactly. I mean, he feels humiliated. He got caught. So he`s saying all the things that you say when you feel humiliated. That`s what we`re seeing.

HAMMER: Very quickly, do you think that people, having watched this, will have any degree of sympathy for him or should they?

LAWRENCE: I don`t see why they would. And I don`t know why he wants us to. This is none of our business, frankly. This has to do with him and Sandra Bullock.

HAMMER: All right -

LAWRENCE: They need to work it out.

HAMMER: Well, I do want to move on now to another big story breaking today - Lindsay Lohan for dummies. There are remarkable new revelations today about her outrageous court appearance.

And burning questions surfaced today, including whether she might have been treated unfairly and whether she should join the TV show "Celebrity Rehab." Cooper Lawrence, Megan Alexander, we`re going to be getting to that. Please stay right where you are.

ANDERSON: Are members of the royal family shaking in their royal boots today? The fallout from Fergie`s caught-on-tape scandal growing by the minute. New reports today suggested desperate duchess may be ready to drop tons of juicy, scandalous royal family secrets.

Heidi, Snooki, Naomi - they are some of today`s most notorious celebrities and they`re on the loose and being bad.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CARLOS DIAZ, SYNDICATED RADIO HOST: When was the last time we saw Naomi Campbell on a cat walk? If I ever saw her on the cat walk, I wouldn`t be looking at the fashions. I`d be making she didn`t have some kind of mobile device in her hand.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: SHOWBIZ investigates, Hollywood gone wild. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

Time now for the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

TEXT: Bret Michaels resumes tour in Biloxi, Mississippi Friday four weeks after brain hemorrhage. Whoopi Goldberg admits she was an identity theft victim on Twitter.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WHOOPI GOLDBERG, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": I need everybody on Twitter to know that there is somebody pretending to be me. I am not on Twitter. I have no account on Twitter. I don`t ever want to be on Twitter. The person who is answering your questions is a fake.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ANDERSON: We welcome you back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood with A.J. Hammer in New York.

HAMMER: Brooke, I got to tell you, my head - it is just spinning with all the stars and wannabe stars who seem to be throwing caution to the wind and going to extremes. Naomi Campbell, Heidi Montag and, of course, we can`t forget the cast of "Jersey Shore."

It seems like Hollywood is just redefining the phrase "Wild, Wild West." But are celebrities really going wild just to extend their time in the spotlight? Or is wild the new normal in today`s fame game? Right now, SHOWBIZ investigates Hollywood gone wild.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

(voice-over): It`s Hollywood gone wild. Outrageous stars doing outrageous things. And it`s all caught on tape.

ALEXANDER: I do think there`s pressure on young stars nowadays to go to the extremes to get into the headlines.

HAMMER: Heidi Montag went to the way extreme when she got 10 - count them - 10 plastic surgeries in just one day.

HEIDI MONTAG, REALITY TV STAR: It`s my body. I need to feel comfortable as a woman, as a person.

DIAZ: It`s like why don`t I reinvent myself? The only problem is, where do you go after 10 plastic surgeries?

MONTAG: The most important thing for me is for me to feel good.

HAMMER: She got cheek implants, liposuction and a boob job. Heidi says she wanted even bigger boobs but her frame just couldn`t support them.

DIAZ: I just can`t imagine that right now. Hold on - give me a second. And I`m done.

HAMMER: But it doesn`t look like that surgery has done anything to help her career.

ALEXANDER: Heidi is now to a point where she feels she needs to be a Barbie doll and be a physical perfection, if you will, to succeed. And in reality, it seems she may have ended her chances of a career in Hollywood.

HAMMER: Going to the extreme may have hurt Heidi, but it surely didn`t hurt these guys. It`s the cast of wild Italian-Americans living the good life and the party life on MTV`s "Jersey Shore." They drink, they make love, and they fight.

ALEXANDER: Here`s a group of young Italians with seemingly no boundaries, partying hardy and somewhere along the way their personalities have become endearing to people.

HAMMER: Most endearing of all, the tough bouffant Jersey girl, Snooki. Snooki is unapologetic about her attitude and her fame. She made that much clear when she appeared on "The View."

SHERRI SHEPHERD, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": Snooki, when did you realize, "OK, I`m famous"?

NICOLE "SNOOKI" POLIZZI, REALITY TV STAR, "JERSEY SHORE": Pretty much at birth.

HAMMER: And if imitation is the highest form of flattery, "The Jersey Shore" gang can be proud of themselves because, now, there`s a senior version.

"Sunset Daze" star Gail Leibowitz tells me Snooki`s wild ways inspired her.

GAIL LEIBOWITZ, REALITY TV STAR, "SUNSET DAZE": We want to show that seniors can have just as good a time as people from "Jersey Shore." And I can have hair just like Snooki has.

HAMMER: Living on the wild side isn`t all fun and games. For supermodel Naomi Campbell, her reputation as a raging cell phone thrower has all but overtaken her image as a top model.

DIAZ: When was the last time we saw Naomi Campbell on a cat walk? In fact, if I ever saw her on a cat walk, I wouldn`t be looking at the fashions. I`d be making sure that she didn`t have some kind of a mobile device in her hand.

NAOMI CAMPBELL, SUPERMODEL: Yes, I threw the phone.

OPRAH WINFREY, HOST, "THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW": You threw the phone?

CAMPBELL: Yes.

HAMMER: After years of silence over her alleged violent tantrums, Naomi finally spoke out on "Oprah" and apologized to the world for her actions.

CAMPBELL: I am ashamed of everything I`ve ever done. I take responsibility for the things that I`ve done. And I do feel a sense of shame.

ALEXANDER: I think it can never hurt to sit down with Oprah Winfrey and share your soul. And I think America is a country of second chances.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Well, now it looks like Naomi`s troubles are going even deeper after prosecutors have actually subpoenaed Naomi as a witness in a case against the former Liberian president, Charles Taylor. This is just wild to say.

They say that she accepted a blood diamond from the former president. Now, Naomi insists that she has no desire to involve herself in this case.

So, Brooke, the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Facebook page is lighting up like crazy today. A lot of SHOWBIZ fans fired up about Lindsay Lohan. A lot of people are saying the judge took it easy on her.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

ALAN, CALLER FROM UTAH: I know if I showed up to court 11 minutes late, the judge is waiting on me, as a regular person, I`m getting tossed in jail. I would have been underneath the jail. I think that celebrities just get too much of a break. She should have just been tossed to jail, simple as that.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It is 30 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer coming to you from New York City.

ANDERSON: And I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood with big news breaking today - Lindsay Lohan for dummies.

HAMMER: Yes. Brooke, one day after a judge came short of throwing the book at Lindsay, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is revealing what might be in a book called "Lindsay Lohan for Dummies."

Serious questions were raised today about Lindsay`s in-court excuse for the judge to not order her to wear an alcohol monitoring bracelet. Well, Lindsay said she needed to shoot a movie in Texas.

There were also suggestions that rehab vet Lindsay should give it another try on the hit TV show "Celebrity Rehab." But Lindsay would tell you, hey, she`s no dummy. Well, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you there are those who would beg to differ.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Do you understand and accept the conditions of you remain out on bail?

LINDSAY LOHAN, ACTRESS: Yes, your honor.

HAMMER: The reviews were disastrous today for Lindsay Lohan. And we`re not talking about one of her movies. Lindsay got slammed left and right today for the appearance she displayed during her court hearing on her alleged probation violation.

NINA PARKER, PRODUCER, TMZ: She definitely was rolling her eyes, kind of looking at the judge with a smirk at times. I just kind of felt her behavior was a little inappropriate.

HAMMER: Papers made fun of Lindsay`s in-court cleavage display and her low-cut open blouse. Take a look at today`s "New York Post" headline that says "Lohan plays Court Chester."

JEFF KREISLER, COMEDIAN AND AUTHOR: I think Lindsay was so bursting with innocence that perhaps a button popped.

HAMMER: Lindsay`s judge ordered the hard-partying starlet to wear a SCRAM alcohol monitoring bracelet, undergo weekly drug testing and to show up in court again in July.

PARKER: If Lindsay violated her probation, she could face 180 days in jail.

HAMMER: So to avoid that bait, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT presents this handy guide we are calling "Lindsay Lohan for Dummies: How to Avoid Getting Locked Up."

Chapter one in "Lindsay Lohan for Dummies: How to Avoid Getting Locked Up," is very simple. Button your blouse.

KREISLER: I think if you`re going to go to court for a probation violation, you shouldn`t look like you just came from an all-night rave and borrowed your mom`s suit and your little sister`s shirt.

HAMMER: Chapter two, don`t mess with Texas. Lindsay`s attorney had argued that a film shoot in Texas would have made it difficult for her to wear the SCRAM alcohol monitoring bracelet.

SHAWN CHAPMAN HOLLEY, LINDSAY LOHAN`S ATTORNEY: Ms. Lohan has a number of upcoming photo shoots as well as continuing to film a movie in Texas. The SCRAM device would interfere with all of that work.

HAMMER: Well, maybe not. TMZ reported today that the makers of Lindsay`s upcoming movie, "Machete," don`t even need her in Texas.

PARKER: They did tell us, for "Machete" that they are re-shooting some scenes. But they said that Lindsay Lohan is not in any of these scenes.

HAMMER: Today, Lindsay`s attorney is sticking with the Texas story telling SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, quote, "Ms. Lohan has indicated to me that she has been told there are scenes she must re-shoot for the "Machete" film. I believe her and for that reason, I mentioned it to the judge."

But comedian Jeff Kreisler, author of "Get Rich Cheating," tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT justice may have been served.

KREISLER: Perhaps the judge is thinking about society and doing us all a favor and not letting Lindsay make that movie.

HAMMER: Chapter three in "Lindsay Lohan for Dummies: How to Avoid Getting Locked Up," don`t cry uncle. In court, Lohan`s attorney said the death of Lindsay`s uncle kept her away from a previous hearing. But that excuse was deflated with one simple question.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Did she go to the funeral?

HOLLEY: She did not.

HAMMER: So much for the uncle defense.

KREISLER: Lindsay Lohan mourns in her own unique way.

HAMMER: And chapter four in "Lindsay Lohan for Dummies: How to Avoid Getting Locked Up" should be simple. Be on time. One would think that after Lindsay was almost arrested for missing last week`s court hearing to party in France, she would have been on time for this week`s hearing, right? No. Lohan showed up about 10 minutes late. Is she trying to go to jail?

PARKER: You already have enough stripes against you. Tardiness isn`t acceptable.

HAMMER: It`s clear Lindsay definitely needs some kind of book to keep her out of jail. But would she heed this advice?

KREISLER: I think Lindsay would read the book if it was on the screen during a rave, if it was kind of pulsating to the beat of her favorite deejay.

HAMMER: But Lindsay better be careful, because if she keeps on like this, the next book she reads will come from the jail library.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: So all this leads to three big burning questions about Lindsay today. With me right now in Atlanta, Ryan Smith, who is a host with "In Session" on our sister network, Tru TV. And in New York, Megan Alexander who is a correspondent with "Inside Edition."

Hey, Ryan, Megan, one of the big burning questions today about Lindsay Lohan`s dramatic court appearance before one angry judge is this - did Lindsay lie to the judge?

Lindsay`s attorney asked the judge to scratch the so-called SCRAM bracelet that will detect if Lindsay has had one drop of alcohol from her conditions of the bail, because Lindsay claimed that she had a movie shoot in Texas for her film, "Machete."

Lindsay has no more shoots for "Machete." In fact, the film is in post production. Megan, it would seem that the judge was lied to, or at the very least, misled.

ALEXANDER: Yes, Brooke. The only thing from this that I can take is that her lawyer did say photo shoots. So unless it`s a photo shoot for something unrelated to those two movies, which it may be - it could be - as it seems to be at this point she did indeed lie.

But this isn`t the first time, Brooke. There have been reports that she never filed a former report with the French authorities that she lost her passport in Cannes. And there have also been reports that there were seats available for her to fly home from Cannes to Los Angeles to make this court date on time.

So there doesn`t seem to be a good track record here. And unfortunately, a real lack of respect for the law and also for other people`s time.

ANDERSON: No. Obvious disrespect for the court of law and for this judge. And the judge was not moved. She did not grant this request. And of course, it was Lindsay`s attorney who told the judge about the movie shoots.

And today, here`s what Lindsay`s attorney told SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, "Ms. Lohan has indicated to me that she has been told that there are scenes she must re-shoot for the `Machete` film. I believe her, and for that reason, I mentioned it to the judge."

Ryan, that`s like the attorney saying, "Look, Lindsay told me the dog ate her homework, so that`s what I had to tell the judge."

RYAN SMITH, HOST, "IN SESSION" ON TRU TV: Yes. You know what? It`s a little bit like that. But you know what? I think she lied to her lawyer.

Here`s why. These lawyers have to appear in front of these judges all the time. The last thing they want to do is be caught lying to judges. But actors - they`re told all the time, you have re-shoots. You might be here. You might be there.

I believe that Lindsay holds this court process in so little regard that she didn`t check, didn`t know and just said, "This is my way to get out of this. So here`s an excuse. Lawyer, go tell the judge."

ANDERSON: Oh, I feel sorry for this highly respected lawyer having to deal with this nonsense. But I`m sure she knew that kind of came with the territory when she took Lindsay on as a client.

All right, I`ve got to move now to another big burning question today about Lindsay. If it is proven that she`s still battling a drug or alcohol problem, should Lindsay do "Celebrity Rehab?"

Now, reality show star Tila Tequila confirmed on her own Web site that she was going to be on the new season of VH1`s "Celebrity" rehab with Dr. Drew, saying that she did not want to be another Lindsay Lohan. So Megan, should Lindsay join Tila on "celebrity rehab?"

ALEXANDER: Brooke, with all respect to Dr. Drew, I do not think this is a good idea for Lindsay Lohan. The fact that she would be involved with someone like Tila Tequila, who obviously has issues herself - I don`t think it`s a good idea.

If she wants to heal for real, she needs to do it off camera. And she needs to go away and really be away from the Hollywood spotlight, if you will. I don`t think it`s a good idea.

ANDERSON: Take care of her issues privately. OK, I`ve got another burning question that`s been raging all day today. Here it is - is Lindsay being treated unfairly and too harshly because she is a celebrity?

Now, Ryan, I think she`s lucky that the judge didn`t throw her right into jail immediately. But what do you think?

SMITH: You know what, Brooke? I have to agree with you. And I know a lot of people say, look, if she wasn`t a celebrity, nobody would care. But on every step through this process, she has tried to flaunt the procedures.

For example, had to go to classes every seven days. But on the 21st day, they`re going to report her. She shows up on the 20th day. She comes late to court. She`s dressed inappropriately at the court, makes inappropriate gestures.

At every stage she is flaunting the process and saying, "Hey, judge, do what you will. I`m a star." So she`s going to get hit hard just as she did the other day.

ANDERSON: Oh, the arrogance. It`s unbelievable.

SMITH: Yes.

ANDERSON: She needs to realize how fortunate she is that she`s not behind bars yet. Ryan Smith, Megan Alexander, thank you both.

HAMMER: This story blows me away. I still cannot believe what Sarah Ferguson was caught-on-tape doing - offering to take a whole bunch of cash for access to the royal family.

So here`s the question I`m asking today. Are the royals in a royally big panic right now? Will Fergie reveal the deepest, darkest secrets of the royal family?

HAMMER: Well, Simon says it`s going to be - well, Simon Cowell is revealing today who he thinks will win this season of "American Idol." Plus, is Simon really sad that he`s leaving the show?

One of the biggest, most bizarre questions about Lady Gaga has been floating around for a while - is she both a man and a woman? Well, today, thankfully, Gaga sets the record straight. Is she a hermaphrodite? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

Time now for the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

TEXT: Bono out of the hospital following back surgery, U2 tour postponed until 2011. Betty White`s "SNL" is the fourth most watched edition of the show since 1987.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BETTY WHITE, COMEDIAN: I didn`t know what Facebook was. And now that I do know what it is, I have to say it sounds like a huge waste of time.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York with Brooke Anderson in Hollywood.

The question is, is there a royal fear of Fergie? There is an explosive report out today that is sure to have the British royal family just shaking in their crown jewels.

It`s the new fallout after the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, was caught on tape asking for more than $700,000 in cash just to get access to her husband, Prince Andrew. Her ex-husband.

Well, today, Fergie is reportedly thinking about moving to America. There is a concern that she could write a no-holds-barred tell-all about what really goes on behind those palace doors.

Right now, in New York is Ben Widdicombe. He is a celebrity journalist. Also in New York, Countess LuAnn de Lesseps. She`s on the hit TV show, "Real Housewives of New York City." She`s also the author of this fabulous book, "Class with the Countess."

So Sarah Ferguson is obviously persona non grata in England right now. But she is coming to America. In fact, she`s got a book signing that is scheduled for New York City tomorrow.

Fergie reportedly coming here for good as well. And there is a big concern she might actually start dishing on the royal family secrets.

Ben Widdicombe, I`m certain this woman must have enough dirt to fill, you know, not just one tell-all book, but an entire library. Do you think the royal family should fear Fergie?

BEN WIDDICOMBE, CELEBRITY JOURNALIST: Well, you know, Andrew was certainly famous for his bachelor ways. Now, there is a suggestion that she might know where the bodies are buried. But this would, by the way, be her third tell-all memoir.

She published a book in the `90s called "My Story" and a follow-up called "Lessons Learned the Hard Way." So she`s ahead to (UNINTELLIGIBLE) at this already. My feeling is that she doesn`t want to anger the royal family anymore than she already has, so she won`t do it.

HAMMER: It doesn`t seem like the right move considering she`s been through in the last couple of days. And Fergie, when you look at this caught-on- tape moment - she seems desperate. She reportedly only gets about $20,000 a year from her 1996 divorce from Prince Andrew.

Her media company here in the States - it recently went bust. On CNN`s "LARRY KING LIVE," royal watcher and author Robert Lacey had a very interesting solution to Fergie`s problems, I thought. Watch this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ROBERT LACEY, ROYAL WATCHER AND AUTHOR: It would be a terrible mistake if the royal family were to cast her into outer darkness. A lot of this trouble has come from something we haven`t discussed, her appalling divorce settlement, the fact she has got nothing to live on.

COUNTESS LUANN DE LESSEPS: There you go.

LACEY: It was a great mistake of the royal family to cast her adrift like that. And I think they should now welcome her into the fold, show compassion, because the alternative to that is more of this and more trouble in the future.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: All right. Countess LuAnn, there on "LARRY KING," you seem to be shaking your head in agreement. I know you`ve met Fergie several times. Do you think that the royals should be worried that Fergie would ditch the royal code and really blow the lid off the royal secrets perhaps in a bigger way than she ever has before?

DE LESSEPS: You know, I don`t think that she would do that, especially if she thought the royal family was behind her. I think it`s in their best interest to be behind her. I mean, she has two, you know, children with Edward - Prince Edward and I think that they need to take care of their family.

They should have done so in the beginning and this could have possibly been avoided. I mean, this is obviously a woman who is desperate, who had too much to drink and who didn`t even ask the credentials of this gentleman that was in the room. So I think there is a problem there and I think that the royals need to deal with it.

HAMMER: Yes. And we don`t, in fact, know that she had too much too drink. Some people have surmised that. It appears that way on this tape. I watch this thing and I still won`t believe it`s real, this pay-for-access scandal all caught on tape by Britain`s "News of the World" newspaper.

And this paper is notorious for this kind of secret tape stuff. Today, they are standing by this story. They are saying they didn`t do anything wrong. Robert Jobson is the royal editor of "News of the World." And he tells CNN`s Larry King, hey, you know, this was just plain good old journalism. Take a look.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

LARRY KING, HOST, "LARRY KING LIVE": Robert Jobson, Robert Lacey says that this is obvious entrapment. How do you respond?

ROBERT JOBSON, ROYAL EDITOR, "KING OF THE WORLD": Not entrapment. What it is, is the proper investigation set about by the "News of the World" because she had done this before with a previous real businessman. It`s a proper investigation. This is the only way that we would carry out to prove this was going on.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes. So as Larry said, some people are crying entrapment today. Ben, was the "News of the World," in your mind, out of line for going undercover on Fergie like this?

WIDDICOMBE: No, I don`t think so. It`s only entrapment if you trap someone to doing something they wouldn`t otherwise have done. He said it in his own words, she was already doing it. They got wind of it. It`s a legitimate story. If she`s peddling influence to the royal family, it`s a legitimate story.

HAMMER: All right. We are asking this in our SHOWBIZ question of the day today in our exclusive poll, "Sarah Ferguson`s Royal Scandal: Do you feel sorry for her?" We would love for you to let us know at CNN.com/ShowbizTonight.

Quick yes or no, LuAnn?

DE LESSEPS: Yes, I feel sorry for her that she had to be put in that position of desperation.

WIDDICOMBE: I am right there with you. Ben Widdicombe, Countess LuAnn De Lesseps, thank you both.

ANDERSON: Is Lady Gaga a he and a she? I`ve heard a lot of things about Gaga, but I think this is one of the most outrageous, most bizarre. There have been questions about whether Lady Gaga is a hermaphrodite. Gaga is setting the record straight today once and for all.

HAMMER: And now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

TEXT: The Bee Gees to perform during "American Idol" finale on Wednesday. Dennis Quaid sues Baxter, company that makes the drug his babies nearly died from.

ANDERSON: And now, the SHOWBIZ buzz list. Here are the things that the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT staff just can`t stop buzzing about today.

The "American Idol" finale - who will win, Crystal or Lee? "Sex and the City 2" - the movie`s out this Thursday and it looks great. Check out "Justified" - it`s a brand-new FX series starring Timothy Oliphant as a cowboy boot-wearing marshal. And the Cooking Channel launches May 31st. ] And we`re buzzing about "Foursquare." It`s like Facebook with a built-in GPS so you can find where your friends are. And it`s really catching on. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ANDERSON: Brand-new Lady Gaga news today. She`s all woman. Gaga tells a French television show today that she loves all the hermaphrodite rumors, but she is only female. Gaga says the rumor hasn`t fazed her one bit. She gave kudos to the legions of Gaga fans around the world who Gaga said love and respect her no matter what.

So the first part of the big "American Idol" finale, it`s down to Crystal Bowersox versus Lee DeWyze. It`s also time to say good-bye to Simon Cowell. He`s leaving the show.

Simon stopped by fellow judge Ellen DeGeneres` show today to reveal who he thinks will win and if he`s sad about going bye-bye.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SIMON COWELL, "AMERICAN IDOL" JUDGE: I`m feeling a bit sad now because, you know, we`re nearly there. But at the same time, do you remember that last sort of three weeks when you were leaving school? And you kind of couldn`t wait to get out?

ELLEN DEGENERES, HOST, "THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW": Right.

COWELL: It`s a little bit like that.

DEGENERES: Right.

COWELL: It kind of exciting. I`m not being ungrateful. I`ve had a fantastic time. And you know, the show changed my life. But I just kind of knew that it was time to do something different.

DEGENERES: Right. Who do you think will win?

COWELL: Well, if you`d have asked me five or six weeks ago, 100 percent I would have said Crystal. But now I`ve changed my mind. I think Lee`s going to win.

DEGENERES: Yes.

COWELL: I think. But, you know what? I think the last two years I`ve got it completely and utterly wrong. So I don`t think anyone`s listening to me anymore. But it`s just a hunch.

There`s something about him. You know, he`s worked in a paint shop. He`s talented. He hasn`t had any real breaks in his life. This has given him a shot. So I like that.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: I`m going with Simon. I, too, think it`s going to be Lee. Going with Simon.

HAMMER: All right, Brooke. You and Simon say Lee. My money is on Crystal. But sometimes I just like to be contrarian. That`s just me.

All right. This week has been incredible so far. You had that amazing "Lost" series finale on Sunday. Loved that. Monday, we said good-bye to "Law and Order" and one of my favorite shows of all time, "24."

A little spoiler alert here - after eight seasons, about nine million people watched Kiefer Sutherland`s Jack Bauer end up on the run from the law and the Russians. I thought the finale was great. They really teed up the 24 movie nicely.

We`ve got a whole bunch of SHOWBIZ iReports today about the "24" series finale. David from Ohio just loved it.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

DAVID FROM OHIO: What a great show it`s been an it ended perfectly. But it`s really not the end, as we know that in 2012, we`re going to have the "24" movie that will finally end it.

Congratulations to Kiefer and the entire cast and crew of "24" for putting on eight great seasons of suspenseful, action-packed shows.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Thanks, David. Make your own iReport. Hop in front of your Web cam or your cell phone cam. Head to iReport.com/ShowbizTonight and send them.
