SHOWBIZ TONIGHT

Paris Struts Out of Jail; Paris` First Interview Tomorrow on Larry King

Aired June 26, 2007 - 23:00:00   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

A.J. HAMMER, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT ANCHOR: Shocking news about Lindsay Lohan`s stay in rehab. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.
BROOKE ANDERSON, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT ANCHOR: And a huge Tom Cruise movie banned. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood. TV`s most provocative entertainment news show starts right now.

HAMMER: On SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, stop the presses, sound the trumpets, because Paris Hilton is out of jail.

Tonight, a SHOWBIZ special report and we`ve got this covered like no other entertainment news show. Was Paris` punishment and the circus worth it? What outrageous thing should she be thinking of doing right now? Plus, the first reaction from the stars.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: She`s got prison tattoos, love and prada.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: What`s this? Someone is offering Paris one million dollars to teach? Sorry. We`re not hot for this teacher. Tonight, a blockbuster, blow-out SHOWBIZ special report, Paris out of jail.

Hello. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

ANDERSON: Hi there everyone. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood. And A.J., I have been up since late last night on Paris patrol.

HAMMER: Yes, you have. At long last, Paris Hilton is out of jail, but is she out of the woods? Tonight we are bringing you a SHOWBIZ special report on Paris` first day of freedom in more than three weeks, and there is a lot of Paris to cover.

ANDERSON: There certainly is, A.J. And I still cannot get over that frenzy that started soon after midnight and still hasn`t let up.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

AHNDERSON (voice-over): In 1944 the liberation of Paris was a big deal. But in 2007 the liberation of Paris Hilton is as big a deal. Well, almost.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Paris Hilton, there she is walking out of jail.

ANDERSON: Paris Hilton`s release from jail after spending 23 days for violating probation was everywhere on TV, around the clock, around the world.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Media magnet Paris Hilton is free.

ANDERSON: Robin Williams tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Paris Hilton`s release from jail is a story of historic proportions.

ROBIN WILLIAMS, COMEDIAN: A lot of old men remembering the liberation of Paris. Tonight people remember the liberation of Paris.

ANDERSON: Like the last big liberation of Paris, an army was present for Paris liberation 2007, an army of reporters, that is. Trust me, I was here, and it was a real mob scene. It is reaching a fever pitch here.

As I reported from the Linwood jail early in the morning, tons of people were waiting to get that first shot of a free Paris.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Deputies are now pushing people away.

ANDERSON: Then just after midnight local time she emerged from jail.

A smiling Paris walked past a screaming crowd of well wishers toward an SUV where her parents were waiting. It was a far cry from the last time we saw Paris in the back of a police car crying hysterically as she was led to jail. This time we saw a Paris who was so excited to finally go home she didn`t have time to talk to me.

Paris, what are your plans?

Oh, well, she had bigger things on her mind, like this emotional reunion with her waiting parents.

HARVEY LEVIN, TMZ.COM: Paris Hilton walked out, and walked out in a very different way. She`s always posed and, you know, on a red carpet and almost looking plastic.

ANDERSON: Harvey Levin of TMZ.com tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT we have never seen Paris like this before.

LEVIN: Last night was very different. I mean, she looked real. She looked natural, confident, and just like a real person, and that may be just a glimpse of what`s to come, but she does seem different.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We finally got her out of here.

ANDERSON: As she and her parents drove away, cameras continued to follow their every move.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Paris Hilton has arrived at her grandparents` home in Benedict Canyon.

ANDERSON: Paris opted not to go to her home. Instead, going to the Hilton family compound. Levin tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, that`s understandable.

LEVIN: She was in isolation for 23 out of 24 hours, so I`m guessing the last thing she wanted was to be isolated some more, and it`s probably better to be around your family than it is alone.

ANDERSON: Life is back to normal at the jail in Linwood now that Paris Hilton is no longer its most famous resident. But now the big question is, what`s Paris going to do with her new found freedom? Robin Williams tells us maybe she`ll show off a new look.

WILLIAMS: She`s got some prison tattoos. You know, love and Prada.

ANDERSON: Maybe that look will catch on. TMZ`s Levin says he knows what her first order of business might be.

LEVIN: We are hearing the thing that she was craving most, more than just about anything else, was Taco Bell.

ANDERSON: Or maybe a career in art. One of Hilton`s last activities in jail was this gift to TMZ`s Levin, a self-portrait of Paris watching Levin hosting Larry King Live on CNN when Harvey hosted, what else, a panel on Paris Hilton. Harvey tells us he liked the jailhouse drawing.

LEVIN: It`s nice to know they watch CNN there.

ANDERSON: But Hilton`s next big event is her own appearance on CNN`s "LARRY KING LIVE," her first interview since her release from jail. And she`s getting ready for it. We see here a van full of beauty care experts arriving at the Hilton house. Harvey tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT that if she makes a good impression on "LARRY KING LIVE," people might get behind the new Paris.

LEVIN: If she comes off as if she`s learned something here, takes some of the blame, talks about what she`s kind of thought about in jail and what she`s going to do with her life in the near future, I really think this is a window for her and people may connect with it.

ANDERSON: But the important thing is Paris is now free, and just like in the 40s, an uproar has followed as an eager world sees what Paris does next.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Great Paris is now free. And very free is Paris.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: All eyes are right now on tomorrow night`s big interview. So be sure to tune in to CNN`s "LARRY KING LIVE" tomorrow night for the very first post-jail interview with Paris Hilton. Also tomorrow night, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is the only live entertainment news show with the very first reaction to that interview. That`s SHOWBIZ TONIGHT live 11:00 p.m. Eastern time.

HAMMER: So while the hoopla over the liberation of Paris has only just begun, was all the frenzy worth all the aggravation? And the question that`s come up again, did Paris get a raw deal? Our coast-to-coast special report continues tonight with Ryan Smith, entertainment attorney and BET host. He`s here in New York. And in Hollywood, Jane Velez-Mitchell, investigative journalist and author of this new book, "Secrets Can be Murder."

Ryan and Jane, it`s good to have you both. Let`s start off tonight by taking a look, once again, at the Paris cat walk out of jail, because a lot of people said it looked like a sashay down the runway. Can with he throw that up, Charles? We`ve actually got a little comparison. Let`s see if we can see a difference between last night and her last time she was sort of walking a runway, one time on the runway. What do you think, Jane? Did she make the right kind of exit? I don`t know. It doesn`t look all that natural to me.

JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL, INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST: Absolutely, A.J. I think she was fabulous. I agree with Harvey Levin. That arrogant, haughty, facade, that pose that she used to present to the world has shattered. And now we`re starting to see the real Paris. And she`s delightful, and she`s beautiful. And she walked out confident, but not arrogant, smiling demurely, not saying anything inappropriately. Hugging her mom.

She looks stupendous. I think it was wonderful. In fact, she looked so good. People have been saying that she lost ten pounds. She wasn`t gaunt. She wasn`t seriously underweight. It does, once again, raise the question of, hey, how sick could you have been just a little while ago to have to be released home that you look so fabulous now? If she looked great going into jail; if she looked so great coming out of jail, it really is hard to believe that she had that very mysterious ailment that left her dangerously ill in between.

HAMMER: Yes, now, this is a nice moment when they`re hugging. That`s mom Kathy in the SUV picking her up. But there was that one moment as she was walking out, with the legs in front, kind of like a cat walk thing. I don`t know. Ryan, I was wonder if anything there was any way that Paris could have avoided the whole paparazzi media crush that happened. A lot of people were thinking that she could have gone out the back door, maybe through some secret tunnel or something and not make such a fuss over herself.

RYAN SMITH, ENTERTAINMENT ATTORNEY AND BET HOST: Let`s see, A.J. She could have used the back door. Or here`s what a lot of stars do. She could have maybe given the press one date and then left on another date or on another time. That wouldn`t have the same kind of publicity affect, would it? She still needs that sense of attention.

And I don`t believe this whole new Paris image. She comes out like she`s on a cat walk. Make no mistake. Just because she`s not swinging her arms and her hips, it doesn`t mean she doesn`t feel that same way. And it doesn`t mean there`s not that same publicity effect. Lots of stars have been in this situation before, and the press is given the runaround as to when she`s coming out of jail.

Here this was carefully planned, carefully orchestrated, and she comes off looking like a winner.

HAMMER: Yes, no, I think you have a real point there, Ryan, because if you think back to when Paris headed off to jail and the TMZ cameras caught her at that time rolling up with the windows rolled down so everyone could see her, after she had also walked the red carpet at the MTV movie awards. So I don`t know. Jane, do you think she was loving the fact that she was back in front of everybody with the cameras flashing, sort of back in her glory?

MITCHELL: And, of course, she`s loving it, A.J. Who wouldn`t? Who wouldn`t want to be the most famous human being on the planet, which arguably she is right now. At least for today. So she`s a person who has historically shown she loves attention.

HAMMER: Yes, but don`t revel in it so much when you are trying to show everybody how much you have changed.

MITCHELL: Well, I agree, and the downside, of course, is that paparazzi will be with her when she least wants it or expects it. So this is the upside of fame. She has experienced the downside of fame. And she will experience it again unless she lays low. And that`s why, despite the sashay to her SUV, she really has to lay low. This is what she needs to do for the time being and let the dust settle.

HAMMER: Well get more into that a little bit later on in the program. So much talk over the last 23 days, was she treated fairly? Was she treated worse because of who she is? Take a listen to what the L.A. County under sheriff told Harvey Levin last night on "LARRY KING LIVE." Look at this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Virtually anybody that has gotten that sentence would have served practically no time whatsoever. Those that did serve that time had extensive criminal records. So, someone of that nature would have come into the facility, served one day or two at the very most.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Ryan, a lot of people have been saying maybe she was over severely punished. Do you agree with that under sheriff?

SMITH: I don`t agree. I don`t agree. Obviously, he mentioned the fact that other people have had this kind of penalty, and we don`t have right in front of us what all those people have gone through. This was a penalty that the judge had the ability to give out. He felt that she was a danger to society in this way and needed this kind of punishment.

Let`s make no mistake here. Two suspended licenses, driving without a license after having this drunken driving arrest, and then also saying, well, my publicist told me that I could drive my car. The judge looked at that and said, you know what, this person is not safe. We don`t want this person on the streets.

HAMMER: Yes.

SMITH: I know the sheriff is out there saying, well, other people wouldn`t have gotten this penalty, but let`s think about why this penalty exists in the first place.

HAMMER: Well Ryan, we`re going to think about that while we go away because I am out of time. But certainly it is an issue that has been debated, and will probably continue to be debated as we talk about what is next for Paris Hilton. Jane Velez-Mitchell, Ryan Smith, thank you both so much.

Now we want to hear from you for our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. Paris Hilton out of jail, do you think she learned her lesson? Go to CNN.com/SHOWBIZTONIGHT to vote. Email us at SHOWBIZTONIGHT@CNN.com.

ANDERSON: OK, what`s that saying, image is everything? Well, I think that`s totally true for Paris. Her career is her image, and already there`s controversy over the image she gave off as she strutted out of jail the minute she shed her orange jumpsuit. You know, it did seem like she was walking the red carpet.

Coming up next what does Paris need to do ASAP to repair her image? Next.

HAMMER: Brooke, all eyes will be on her very first post-jail interview with "LARRY KING LIVE" tomorrow night. Tonight I have a fired up panel that`s going to reveal what she`s got to say during that interview. That`s coming up.

And much more in our SHOWBIZ special report, Paris out of jail.

ANDERSON: Also, A.J., some big rehab news from Paris` bad girl buddy Lindsay Lohan. I was really both surprised and not surprised at the same time when I heard what she is doing. I`ve got that straight ahead.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WILLIAMS: She has some prison tattoos, love and prada.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Very funny stuff there from Robin Williams. Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s special report, Paris out of jail. This is TV`s most provocative entertainment news show. I`m Brooke Anderson.

So what does Paris need to do to rehabilitate here image. As she gets set to sit down with CNN`s Larry King tomorrow night on CNN, 9:00 p.m. for the biggest interview of her life? Here with me in Hollywood, founder of 15 Minutes Public Relations, Howard Bragman, and former TV host and current TV talent coach Terry Anzur.

OK guys, we`ve been talking a lot about Paris` exit from jail early this morning, right after midnight. Howard, I was there. You know, shortly after midnight, when she exited those front doors, we have been asking how did she handle herself? What do you think?

HOWARD BRAGMAN, 15 MINUTES PR: I think Paris is walking a tight rope, and I think she did a very good job of walking the tight rope last night. You don`t want to be too glamorous. You don`t want to be to doudi (ph). You want to be just right in the middle, and I think she did it. She looked nice. She looked authentic. She looked genuinely happy. I think people really believe that she was happy to be out of jail, happy to see her family, and, as I say, she just looked real and more genuine than she has for a very long time.

ANDERSON: So you think she found that happy medium. Terry, you`re the image coach. How do you think she did?

TERRY ANZUR, TALENT COACH: I give her an A-plus for her liberation walk because her head was held high, yet, not to cocky. And then she did something that we can all relate to. You know, if I were in jail for a couple of weeks, I would want to hug my mommy. And she didn`t speak. She went for the emotion shot, the money shot. Great photo opportunity.

ANDERSON: I will say we can all probably relate to that embrace with her mom. And I`ll also say, I was there, and it was a sashay. She may not have been pouting her lips and the hands on the hips, but it was a bit of a strut. And we have been thinking about what Paris should do for her image, and, you know, why not this?

How about she creates a gift basket that maybe she gives to all the ex-cons who want to be just like Paris Hilton now. And this gift basket would include one blonde ponytail extension, a stuffed chihuahua, a moisturizing cream, just to name a few. Howard, we all know Paris is good at creating a brand for herself. What do you think?

BRAGMAN: I think the gift basket is a good idea. But she really has to do some charitable things in this gift basket. She`s got to have some causes that she`s associated with. And, you know, everybody thinks Paris is going to be totally different. And this isn`t a revolution. This is an evolution. We want to see some of the Paris we know and love. We want to see her stylish. We want to see her looking good.

But we want to see her take that and meld that into some causes and things that can help change her image and help other people too, because it`s sort of been me, me, me for a while. And now she has to start thinking about other people. And she talked about words like gratitude. Start showing those things. Start doing what she`s been talking about.

ANDERSON: Well, speaking of Paris becoming more charitable, you know, she has said this experience has changed her, and that she`s become more spiritual, that she will do that charity work. But let`s face it, Paris gets paid to party, to show up at red carpets. Terry, what do you think? How is this new Paris going to make the same living she`s been accustomed to for so long?

ANZUR: Well, Brooke, before we can talk about fancy gift baskets, we have to talk about what her focus should be right now, and that should be the Larry King interview. She has to talk for a full hour on national television and convince the world that she means what she has said. She has to put some meat on the bones of some of the statements that she`s thrown out there. She has to say what it means when she has found God.

What is she going to do with that? She has to get with her people and be very clear about what her message is going to be and how she`s going to answer not only the tough questions, but use this opportunity with Larry King to get her message out there. And I`m very worried about Paris right now, because she`s been sending out a mixed message. Is she the Paris Hilton who is going to want to throw a big party with lots of sponsors, get money for an interview, or does she simply want to tell her story and get on with her life in a way that she will continue to be a role model and that`s where the commercial possibilities come in.

ANDERSON: Good point, and, Howard, very quickly, ten seconds, in addition to what she has to say, what about her demeanor? What should she portray with her tone?

BRAGMAN: You know, the Paris we see on TV is a caricature. And she has to be real. She has to be warm. She has to be funny. She has to be emotional. I want some tears. I want some laughter. I want to see the whole gambit.

ANDERSON: All right, Howard Bragman, Terry Anzur, we`re going to wrap it up right there. Thank you both for joining us.

HAMMER: So what really happened when Paris strutted out of jail? Brooke, as we saw, you were right there in the middle of the media circus when she was released. And some stuff we haven`t heard about, I`m sure.

ANDERSON: Yes. It was complete chaos. News crews, fans; it was really a crazy experience.

HAMMER: Well, like everybody is wondering, I got to ask, what will Paris say during her first post-jail interview? I have a fired up panel with a lot to say about what Paris must say to Larry King. Our SHOWBIZ special report, Paris out of jail, continues at 30 past the hour.

ANDERSON: And A.J., Paris` partying pal Lindsay Lohan could be in a lot of trouble. Remember, she was charged with DUI last month and is back in rehab. Next, I`ve got some shocking news about Lindsay`s rehab stint.

And more star controversy. Tom Cruise told to pack up and go home. Why one of Tom`s movies has been banned. That startling story in a bit.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ANDERSON: Well, Paris is out, but one of her hard partying Hollywood bad girl buddies is staying put. Tonight I can tell you Lindsay Lohan is staying in rehab a little longer. Lindsay`s mom, Dina, tells the "New York Daily News" her daughter is extending her care and that it was actually Lindsay`s choice. Lindsay has been at the Promises Rehab Center in Malibu, California, since being charged with DUI after crashing her car in Hollywood last month. It`s her second stint in rehab this year. Lindsay turns 21 on July 2nd, but I`m not so sure she`s going to get out before then.

Now, in other Lindsay news, I can also tell you that her mom and estranged father, Michael, who just got out of jail for drunk driving and attempted assault, have been ordered into family therapy. Michael will also get more phone time with their two young daughters, but can`t see them until he goes to the therapy. He hasn`t seen Lindsay`s little brother and sister since he was locked up. That was about two years ago.

HAMMER: Well, I know they say actions speak louder than words, but, you know, everyone in the world can`t wait to hear what Paris will say during her first post-jail interview with Larry King tomorrow. Coming up next tonight, much more of our SHOWBIZ special report, Paris out of jail. I`ve got a fired up panel. They are waiting to let loose what Paris absolutely, positively has to say during that interview. It is crucial.

And I just couldn`t believe my ears when I heard this. Somebody is actually willing to pay Paris one million bucks to teach. Are you kidding me? I`ve also got the outrageous things that Paris should be thinking of doing right now.

ANDERSON: Also, A.J., speaking of outrageous, a Tom Cruise film banned. That`s right. Why Tom was told to pack up and get on out. I`ve got that startling story. You don`t want to miss. It also might have to did with Tom`s religion. Stay with SHOWBIZ TONIGHT for Tuesday night. We`re coming right back.

(NEWS BREAK)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: If she really comes off like the same person, I think people are going to reject her.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Paris Hilton, out of jail. I was right there as Paris was released, and we`re taking you inside the media circus for what you haven`t heard about her departure.

Also, what happens now? What does Paris have to say to win over the public in her big interview with Larry King? Plus, Paris` unbelievable million-dollar offer to be a teacher. Yeah. Tonight a SHOWBIZ TONIGHT special report -- "Paris Out Of Jail".

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It is 30 minutes past the hour. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood. And you are watching TV`s most provocative entertainment news show.

And this is a SHOWBIZ special report, "Paris Hilton Out Of Jail". I was right there as Paris left the all-women`s jail in Lynwood, California, 15 minutes after midnight, ending her three-week lockup. She waved. She smiled, but didn`t answer any reporters` questions.

In a statement Paris said jail was by far the hardest thing she has ever done and that she learned a bitter but important lesson from the experience. Paris will stay on probation until March 2009, but can reduce that by a year, if she does community service.

HAMMER: Now that Paris is out of jail, so many questions to ask. First, behind the media circus; what is the real story behind Paris` release from jail? Well, as you heard and saw, Brooke was camped out right in front of the jail when all that went down so, we`ll find out.

Also, of course, the big interview. Now that Paris is all set to go one-on-one with Larry King, what does she absolutely need to say to save face? And the million-dollar deal. Will Paris actually take big bucks to teach a class? I can`t believe I even said that. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT gets to the bottom of an unbelievable offer.

Tonight SHOWBIZ TONIGHT going coast-to-coast with this special report. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Brooke Anderson in Hollywood tonight. Also in Hollywood investigative journalist Jane Velez-Mitchell and TV talent coach Terry Anzur. Here in New York tonight, entertainment attorney and BET Host Ryan Smith, and Ben Widdicombe, columnist for the "New York Daily News".

Panelists, I appreciate you all being here.

Brooke, as we saw, you were camped out right in front of the jail when Paris Hilton got out. You did an amazing report. We`re all very impressed. It was seen the world over on the CNN network.

ANDERSON: Oh, stop it.

HAMMER: Let`s take another look.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Paris Hilton is exiting the jail. The women`s facility here in Lynwood, California. It is reaching a fever pitch here. It is, of course, a media circus. Paris Hilton exiting now after serving 23 days behind bars, give or take a few hours. Serving time, serving a 45-day sentence for violating probation.

You see Paris now. Paris, what are your plans?

Paris is smiling. Paris is waving, and she is walking to her parents` black SUV. They were waiting in the car at the end of this walkway. As you can see, people are scrambling. People are scrambling to get to Paris and that black SUV.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Brooke, I know she did want to answer you. She just needed to go hug her mom.

(LAUGHTER)

ANDERSON: Sure. Sure.

HAMMER: That frenzy last night, obviously, it was expected. And it was just out of control. But were you surprised? I wonder two things, were you surprised at just how crazy it was? And tell us some of what we couldn`t see going on.

ANDERSON: I was actually astounded by the mob scene that it really became, and I think what you couldn`t see was the scope of it all. There were easily 50 news crews there, helicopters hovering overhead, still photographers chasing the SUV after it left, and fans were there in droves. And a lot of them told me that they had dragged themselves out of bed to be there to personally witness Paris` exit from jail, which I couldn`t believe.

It`s still a little bit baffling to me, A.J., that Paris Hilton, famous for nothing really, famous for being famous, I guess, garners so much attention.

HAMMER: Man, was she happy, though, to be walking out of jail, big smile on her face. There`s been a little mixed reaction to her exit from jail. Jane Velez-Mitchell, everybody has been talking about how in some ways it looked like she was walking down a red carpeted. Do you think she handle herself well?

JANE VALEZ-MITCHELL, INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST: I do. I know the critics are saying she should have been more somber or perhaps snuck out the back way. Let`s face it, she did her time. And she`s entitled to make that walk. She loves the attention. So this time I think she`s earned the attention. And as for smiling, of course -- who wouldn`t be happy and smiling getting out of jail?

So, I don`t think we can judge her at this point. The real question is what is she going to do from now on? Her big test is yet to come, but I think she had every right and was entitled to walk that walk.

HAMMER: Terry Anzur, you coach people on how to act the right way. What do you think?

TERRY ANZUR, TV TALENT COACH: Well, as I said, I give her an A-plus for this walk because not only did it occur in the middle of the night, when a lot of people were not available to watch television, it guaranteed that the clip that they wanted you to see, her hugging her parents, that emotional moment is the clip that everybody would see over and over again. It humanizes Paris, gives us a chance to relate to her more.

Now, the big thing that has me worried is how is she going to basically act her age? This is a 26-year-old woman. She`s not a teenager. And she has been saying that she doesn`t want to act stupid anymore. She`s got to grow up. And how is she going to do that? On Larry King she`s going have to define that plan.

Brooke`s question was perfect. Paris, what are your plans? Good job, Brooke.

HAMMER: Tomorrow night we are going to get our first chance to see if she is going to talk the talk, now that she has walked the walked. Everybody is already popping up their Gucci popcorn and getting ready for the first post-jail interview on "Larry King Live" tomorrow night. That`s going to be at 9:00 p.m. Eastern.

And then SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is going to be right here live at 11:0 p.m., with the first reaction.

Ryan, let me go to you. What do you think is the one thing Paris Hilton absolutely needs to say to prove that she has changed and will talk the talk?

RYAN SMITH, ENTERTAINMENT ATTORNEY, BET HOST: She`s going to need to talk about the things that she intends to do to change her image. That`s going to be tough, honestly, with this catwalk performance last night because what we`re seeing here is the same old publicity hound. And, look, I`m not going to fault her for doing that. It`s just that`s what America sees her as. So when she goes on "Larry King" tomorrow night, she`s going to need to talk about what she intends to do, how she intends to back it up, the charitable activities.

Let`s not forget here she can reduce her probation by doing community service and that could be a big help. We need to hear those specifics because what we`ve seen so far in this big colossal change is the catwalk effect, publicity seeking, and that is not a big change from what we saw before.

HAMMER: Something else we got to see earlier in the night, Paris Hilton`s attorney, Richard Hutton, on "Larry King Live", and he spoke about what we can expect from Paris. Watch this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

RICHARD HUTTON, PARIS HILTON`S ATTORNEY: Her mental state is good. She is looking forward to coming on this show Wednesday night. She wanted me to tell you that she really is looking forward to coming on and telling you everything that has been going on the last three weeks.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Ben Widdicombe, from the "New York Daily News", it seems to me that Paris has to be especially careful right now that she does not come across as a whining victim.

BEN WIDDICOMBE, "NEW YORK DAILY NEWS": I fully expect Paris to create a foundation in her own name, The Paris Hilton Foundation, for some cause. Probably youth; youth causes always go down very well. Creating your own foundation is also the narcissist`s idea of charity work. So I think it will suit Paris very well.

There`s no doubt that Paris is back. That incredible scene outside the jail this morning, it was the French Revolution in reverse. As if they screwed Maria Antoinette`s head back on -- she walked away from the guillotine, got back on the cart and they took her home to the palace. So, I think people are ready for Paris to be back.

HAMMER: I spoke with somebody earlier today who knows all about what it`s like to live life under the microscope, with all that scrutiny. Former supermodel Rachel Hunter. I want you all to listen to what she told me when I asked her what she thought of all the scrutiny that Paris Hilton has had to endure.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

RACHEL HUNTER, SUPERMODEL: To be under the most scrutiny of the media, but, you know what, as a celebrity and as a person out in the public, you take responsibilities when you go out.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: So Jane Valez-Mitchell, essentially Rachel Hunter is saying be careful what you wish for. If you want to be a star, if you want all of that attention, be prepared for what that yields.

VALEZ-MITCHELL: Absolutely. The first thing that she should not do is she absolutely should not play the victim. And she should not seek sympathy. Nobody is going to pull out the violins and sing sad songs for Paris Hilton. So if she`s coming from a position of self-pity, if she`s coming from a standpoint, "feel sorry for me. I was sentenced unfairly" -- that`s not going to work.

What she needs to do is accept responsibility for the drunk driving and the driving with a suspended license, and even showing up for court late, and say, hey, I have turned a new leaf and learned a lot from jail. Talk about what she`s learned and how she`s grown psychologically, spiritually, and emotionally. And what she`s going to do with all that growth and how she`s going to turn it into positive work.

She needs to be of service starting with the Larry King show. And I think it`s wonderful that she`s going to be establishing a halfway house for inmates. Guess what, that`s a full-time job. If you are an activist and you are doing work, you are going to be too busy to party. She has to remain too busy to party.

HAMMER: I think a lot of opportunities will present themselves. I think she has to be very selective. Here`s something that I never thought I would say. Paris Hilton has an offer to become a teacher. There, I said it. Not only that, it`s a million dollar gig. I don`t know many teachers who make that much money. But should she take the job?

Stay where you are because we`ll get back into Paris` unbelievable offer. We`ll run through the other extreme things we think Paris needs to do now that she`s finally out of jail. That`s next on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

ANDERSON: Plus, Tom Cruise banned. Germany says Tom can`t go to certain places there to film scenes for his new movie. We`ll tell you why, coming up.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ROBIN WILLIAMS, COMEDIAN: I`m an old man remembering the liberation of Paris. Tonight people remember the liberation of Paris. Old veterans are saying I`m here to liberate Paris. I was there in 1944 riding behind Charles De Gaul.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes, that is a whacky Robin Williams reacting to the news that Paris Hilton is now a free woman and out of jail. Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. And you are watching TV`s most provocative entertainment news show.

This is a SHOWBIZ TONIGHT special report, "Paris Out Of Jail". What now? Well, how about a million dollars to do something that we never thought we could ever entertain the idea of Paris doing -- teach. Yes, the Learning Annex confirmed to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT that it`s offering Paris $1 million to teach a course on, of all things, building a brand. Well, it actually kind of makes sense.

Our coast-to-coast panel is fired up and ready to go. Terry Anzur, TV talent coach, let me start with you. What do you think? Should Paris take the money from the Learning Annex to teach a course and run with it?

ANZUR: Absolutely, no way, A.J. When you think about it, teachers get low pay for doing one of the most important jobs in the world. And they certainly don`t make $1 million for doing it. Here we have someone who has no demonstrated ability to teach anything, and as for building a brand -- if you are out there driving without a license, getting arrested and put in jail, I`m not sure that`s a brand anybody wants to copy.

The jury is still out on whether, you know, she can really teach anything on that particular subject.

HAMMER: I`m with you. Charles, can we throw our whole panel up here. I want to se everybody because I need to know does anybody think this is a good idea?

Show of hands. Gang?

(CROSS TALK)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: No way.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: She doesn`t have the --

(CROSS TALK)

HAMMER: Go ahead, Ben Widdicombe, "Daily News", go ahead.

WIDDICOMBE: The Learning Annex does these stunt castings all the time. You can go and see Donald Trump and buy a ticket. The Donald is actually very good in person, and he will answer any question. Paris really isn`t that good on the fly with questions. And she would get very flustered if people wanted to ask hard questions like what were you thinking? And why are you this terrible role model? I don`t think she`ll be very good in that environment.

HAMMER: It seems from everybody shaking their heads and nobody raised their hand, nobody thinks it`s a good idea for Paris to become a teacher, let alone make $1 million for doing it.

Now, I had the chance to sit down with somebody who is an expert at branding, Suzanne Somers, and I asked Suzanne what she thinks Paris should do. Watch this.

SUZANNE SOMERS, ACTRESS, BRANDING EXPERT: If I were Paris Hilton, I would get a clothes line going. I would get a jewelry line going. I would create the businesses like I have created. I would go on the Shopping Channel like I did, and talk so people get to know you. I would start a party business like I started.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Entertainment attorney Ryan Smith, I`m sure you have had to advise clients when they`ve wanted to get behind a product. I want you to think outside the box here. If anything, what do you think Paris Hilton should be selling?

SMITH: You know, I don`t think that selling products like that is really going to help her. Honestly, what she really should be selling is her good charitable works. I have heard a lot of people talk about the halfway house, and the other different charitable works. It can`t be just - - this is a person who is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, so going on the Home Shopping Network is not something that`s going to change public opinion on her.

She actually needs to get out there and work on these things. Not hire other people to do them for her. But actually work on these things. So selling products, I don`t think that`s really her way to go right now. Teaching classes, I don`t think that`s really the way either.

I think her thing should be direct service, putting herself out there on the frontlines, much like an Angelina Jolie. That`s what really builds support among the public.

HAMMER: Even if she does go ahead and do that, which is all a very good idea, she`s still going to be collecting checks from that sex tape because she still gets money for that thing. Let me go to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s own Brooke Anderson.

Brooke, of course, like me, you can be covering Paris for a long time. You recently had the chance to interview her for our show, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, as she was promoting "The Simple Life", her show. You have a pretty good sense of Paris, the promoter, Brooke. What do you think? Can she turn this thing around?

ANDERSON: Well, you know, if she genuinely wants to do it and she works hard, sure. Anything is possible. I think everybody roots for someone else to better themselves.

I do have a bit of advice. Speaking from experience with Paris, when you are two hours late, nearly two hours late for an interview, speaking of "That Simple Life" junket, for no apparent reason, just acknowledge that, just apologize and move on.

Basically have a little bit of respect for other people. Bottom line, have some decency. Don`t be so self-absorbed, always thinking of yourself. And I think, basically, that is a start in changing herself for the better.

HAMMER: Yeah. She needs to start -- especially, if she is going to continue to work within the entertainment industry. The people who cover her every move perhaps we`ll see if she`ll show any respect this way. We heard a little bit from Robin Williams before about what he thinks about Paris. Let`s listen to what else he told SHOWBIZ TONIGHT last night, at the premier of his movie, "License To Wed."

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WILLIAMS: Take a little time off. Get a bumper car, stay off the phone with your publicist. Quiet time. Get a beeper. You have an ankle bracelet. Go to those secret meetings, you know where they are. And this she`s changed her name to Pittsburgh, then it`s interesting. If she`s got some prison tattoos. You know, Love and Prada.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: At the beginning there he suggested that she go away. I have to say I have been hearing from a lot of people what she really needs to do right now is do the Larry King interview, tomorrow night. When that`s over, she needs to go away. Lay low. Figure out an effective game plan and come back like never before.

Jane Velez-Mitchell, what do you think?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: How about doing nothing? Sometimes the best thing to do, A.J., is absolutely nothing at all, and it can be the hardest thing to do. Let`s not get into the madness. People, corporations, stop offering this woman $1 million. I am sick of hearing that already.

Also, if she were to teach a course, at the Learning Annex, imagine it, it would be packed with paparazzi. So let`s get real here. What she needs to do is stop being a brand, stop being a commodity, and start being a human being. Simply get to know herself and who she is. And take the knowledge that she got through being behind bars, and try to use that for self-growth and to be of service to others.

She has the power to make this world a better place. Like few other people do, she is incredibly charismatic, incredibly famous and rich; if she wanted to take all those resources and make this world a better place, she could. I challenge her to do it.

HAMMER: Sounds good to me.

Very quickly, Terry Anzur, what do you think?

ANZUR: I have a problem with people expecting Paris to check into a nunnery and wear sack cloths and ashes. Ain`t gonna happen. But she does need to be selective, saying no to the liquor sponsorship, but yes to the cosmetic sponsorship. Her image is her greatest asset. And maybe if she could put out a lipstick where part of the proceeds went to charity, that would be a good marriage of something Paris Hilton is good at, which is looking good in front of a camera, and doing good for other people at the same time.

HAMMER: I`ve said it before. I`ll say it again. The world will be watching. Jane Velez-Mitchell, Terry Anzur, Ryan Smith, Ben Widdicombe, I thank you all for being with us tonight.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Thank you.

HAMMER: Make sure you are watching CNN`s "Larry King Live" tomorrow night, for the very first post-jail interview with Paris Hilton. All right, Germany has a very strong message for Tom Cruise. Listen to this. Tom has been banned from filming his new movie at certain places in Germany. Why don`t they want him there? I`m going to give you a hint. It has nothing to do with jumping on couches. We`re going to tell you why Tom has been banned next, on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ANDERSON: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, TV`s most provocative entertainment news show. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood.

All right, Tom Cruise is being banned from filming his new movie at certain sites in Germany because he is a Scientologist. Cruise`s new film is about a plot to overthrow Adolph Hitler, and the studio wanted to film at some military sites in Germany, but the German defense ministry says the film won`t be allowed access to some places, including the defense ministry in Berlin, where the plot was hatched.

A spokesman for the defense ministry says that is because Scientology is a cult. The German government has a long history of being against Scientology. It doesn`t even recognize it as a religion, but more of a money-making sect. Paula Wagner, Cruise`s producing partner says his personal beliefs have absolutely no baring on the movie`s plot and they think Germany is the only place the story in the film can be done justice.

All right. Yesterday we asked you to vote on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. Paris Hilton after jail, do you think she`ll be a changed person? Only 10 percent of you say yes. And 90 percent of you say no. Here are some of the e-mails that we received.

Mel from Texas writes, "I think Paris Hilton will not change her party ways, but will be more aware of what she is doing."

Tom from Florida says, "After a while she`ll go back to boozing it up and partying every night until she gets into more trouble. Once a bimbo, always a bimbo."

Ouch.

HAMMER: There you go. Let`s find out what is coming up on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

Tomorrow it is a big day for Paris Hilton. She`s going to have to face the public for the very first time since she got out of jail. Paris` very first interview since she left jail is now less than 24 hours away. The question everybody is asking themselves tonight, what will she say? You`ll find out tomorrow night when Paris sits across from Larry King.

Watch "Larry King Live" at 9:00 p.m. Eastern on CNN. Then at 11:00 Eastern come right here to "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT we`ll be the only live entertainment news show with the very first reaction of Paris Hilton`s interview right here on headline prime.

And that is it for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Thanks for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

ANDERSON: Have a great night, everybody. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood. "Glenn Beck" is coming up next. That`s after the latest headlines from CNN Headline News." Take care.
