AP: U.S. Captures Former Saddam Bodyguard, Iraqi General

WOLF BLITZER, CNN ANCHOR: We're just getting this in to CNN right now from the Associated Press in Iraq. In Tikrit, U.S. forces, according to the AP, reporting that they've captured one of Saddam Hussein's former bodyguards and an Iraqi general, who was a senior member of Saddam Hussein's Baathist Party. The arrests were made in a series of raids by U.S. forces on the outskirts of Saddam Hussein's northern Iraqi hometown.
A total of 14 Iraqis, Iraqi men, according to the AP, have been detained. The U.S. military says all of the men were members of the same family and that they served as a base of support for Saddam Hussein's regime in the post-war era.

We're continuing to watch this news story. But, once again, a top former bodyguard to Saddam Hussein and a former general of the Iraqi regime, the former Iraqi regime picked up today by U.S. forces in Tikrit.
