MARTIN SAVIDGE, CNN ANCHOR: The final round of the PGA Championship is getting under way here at this hour. I say here, here in Atlanta. David Toms sits atop the letter board -- leader board, that is -- after an incredible run yesterday that included a hole in one and a 35 foot birdie putt at the finish. Phil Mickelson is two strokes behind Toms and Tiger Woods is way back in the pack.

KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Well, like we said, the weekend belongs to David Toms, who says his game is strong enough to win the championship today. He talked with CNNSI's John Giannone.

JOHN GIANNONE, CNN SI CORRESPONDENT (on camera): David Toms will take the lead into the final round of the PGA Championship. I heard you say that it was sort of a ho-hum round that turned a little bit different during that ace. Did you know it was going in? What club did you use? How excited were you when you saw it go in?

DAVID TOMS, GOLFER: I hit a 5-wood, just hit it right at it, never the left the flag, and I knew that it went in when the people behind the green jumped up and started screaming and I kind of let out a yell myself, and everybody went crazy around the tee, and it was a fun moment.

But, you know, it kind of helped me out because I'd struggled all day and even though my score was OK, I just was a little bit off and that one shot kind of turned the day around.

GIANNONE: David, you're going to be playing in a pairing on Sunday with Phil Mickelson and there is going to be so much attention on that pairing, not only because it's the last one but because of Phil. Has there been anything that you've been through that can help you during those 18 holes on Sunday?

TOMS: Well, I played with Tiger last year at the British on Saturday and, I mean, I didn't shoot a real low score, but I shot under par and I played solid in a similar situation. And I know Phil well enough to know that we'll have a good time playing out there tomorrow and hopefully feed off each other and both play well.

GIANNONE: What do you expect from yourself? Do you expect that about this time on Sunday you'll be holding that Wanamaker trophy? TOMS: I expect to go out and play, to play good tomorrow. You know, whether or not I win this golf tournament, I just want to have a chance coming down the stretch and see how I hold up. I think I'll do well. I mean, I've won some tournaments coming down the stretch before on tour against some good competition, so I think I'll do fine.

GIANNONE: David, thank you.

TOMS: OK. Thank you.

GIANNONE: David Toms, the ace will be the highlight of a superb third round at the PGA Championship. In Duluth, Georgia, I'm John Giannone.
