NATALIE ALLEN, CNN ANCHOR: We're just learning about an incident at a school, at an elementary school in Anchorage, Alaska where four children were stabbed. We have on the line with us Michelle Egan, who is in public relations with the Anchorage school system.

Michelle, do we have that? Four children have been stabbed at an elementary school. What can you tell us about what happened?

MICHELLE EGAN, PUBLIC RELATIONS, ANCHORAGE SCHOOL DISTRICT: That's correct. Children were playing on the playground this morning before school began. There was an adult person on the playground. They were -- the suspect stabbed four kids. They fled into the school. The suspect was apprehended and the students have been transported to our local hospitals.

ALLEN: Do you have anything to explain this? Who this person was, if the suspect had anything in connection with the school at all? And how are the children doing?

EGAN: I don't have information about the suspect at this time, nor do I have the condition of the students, and we're in touch with local hospitals. I'm awaiting to hear the latest about their condition. Our local police office has secured the scene and there's an investigation under way.

ALLEN: Do you know how this person got on the school playground?

EGAN: I don't know that.

ALLEN: And do you know if the children were seriously injured in this stabbing?

EGAN: I was told that it didn't appear serious, but again, I have not heard from the local hospitals.

ALLEN: All right. Well, we'll check back with you, and we thank you.

EGAN: Thank you.

ALLEN: Again, four children stabbed while they were on the playground at an elementary school in Anchorage, Alaska. We will follow up with that story.
