Syria claims forces killed 175 rebels

CNN  —

Syrian government forces killed 175 rebels that it described as mostly Saudi, Qatari and Chechen “terrorists” in an ambush east of Damascus, the state-run SANA news agency reported Wednesday.

There was no immediate response from rebels about the report.

The news agency, citing a military source, said that an army unit eliminated scores of Jabhat al Nusra and “Islam battalion” rebels.
